The Countdown to 2016 New Year Celebrations brought Iglesia Ni Cristo (Church of Christ) in the Philippines an additional three world records. While the church is known for its current collection, the main event and title achieved in this instance was the largest fireworks display in the world.

On January 1, 2016, when the clock struck midnight, the world’s largest firework display was launched.


The Philippine Arena in Ciudad de Victoria Bocaue Bulacan, Manila, brought over 100,000 people to capture this world record-breaking moment - in the rain, nonetheless.

The world's largest firework display lasted a shocking 1 hour, 1 minute, and 32.35 seconds!!


The previous record of 540,382 rockets belonged to Norway two years prior. This event blew those numbers out of the water with a staggering 810,904 individual firework displays lighting up the night sky.
