Thankfully, the state of Kentucky does not have any sort of ban on fireworks. Instead, the state and counties within it promote safety regulations for anyone interested in looking to partake in festivities.

Legal Firework Types
In the state of Kentucky, it is legal for vendors to sell any fireworks that meet the definitions listed in the Kentucky Revised Statutes (KRS 227.702). Included in the legal consumer firework types are:
Ground and hand-held sparkling devices (fountains, sparklers, wheels, ground spinners, etc.)
Aerial devices (bottle rockets, roman candles, shells, cakes, etc.)
Audible ground devices (firecrackers, chasers, etc.)
Manufacturing Requirements
All fireworks sold to the public must be designed by manufacturers as consumer fireworks. Any fireworks purchased for sale in the state of Kentucky are required to comply with regulations according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).
Purchasing Fireworks Legally
You must obey a few basic laws to lawfully purchase and use any of the previously listed firework types in Kentucky.
Anyone purchasing fireworks must be 18 or older
Fireworks cannot be ignited within 200 feet of any home, vehicle, structure, or another person
Fireworks cannot be used in a way that violates any local ordinances
In Kentucky, it’s important to note that local laws rule over state laws. That means you must rely on the latest information from your municipality to purchase and set off fireworks legally.

Purchasing or using fireworks in violation of state or municipal law could result in fines, infractions, and even jail time in Kentucky.
